3 – 6 May
NTS Bunkhouse, Torridon
Grade 2, 3
Surrounded by some of the most impressive hills in the northwest, Glen Torridon is a perfect base for a
long-weekend meet in early May. All the Munros and many of the Corbetts are steep and rugged, but
there are plenty of lower hills and coastal walking/wildlife watching for those that want it. We
have booked the NTS bunkhouse near the shore of Loch Torridon which can take up to 10 people in 3
bedrooms (2, 4 and 4). The property is well equipped, but you do need to bring a sleeping bag.
The charge is expected to be £75 per person for the weekend.
24 – 28 May

Don’t miss out on this memorable special event
Bookings required by 28th February 2024, using this form, to secure the ferry and minibus
Please note that as this is the May Bank Holiday, everything is already very booked up, with the Youth Hostel potentially full on the Friday and Monday evening. The campsite is also full for motorhome electric hook ups on the Monday evening. As the main day is the Monday, and this is primarily a camping meet this still works, but please book your accommodation now if you would like to come.
11 – 18 June (a week’s stay) and 14 – 16 June (weekend)
Isle of Coll
Grade Various
It is a few years since the club last visited Coll and it is an island with lots of good walks to offer and lovely beaches. The accommodation for this meet will be split between the island’s manse for the week and the bunkhouse for the weekend. One of our members will be preaching in the church on the Sunday.
29 June
Day walk
Ben Vuirich (Blair Atholl)
Grade 2
Located just to the south-east of its famous neighbour (Beinn a’Ghlo), this hill misses having
munro status by only 14 metres. However, it’s an interesting outlier with good views. We propose to
start at Loch Moraig (about 4 km from Blair Atholl) and the full circuit is approximately 20km, so a 7- 8
hour day.
12-14 July
Sannox Centre, Isle of Arran
Grade – Various
The Sannox Centre is a Christian centre, based at Sannox, on the east side of the island.. Cost will be £70 for the weekend (£35 per person per night.) A limited number of places have been booked but more can be requested if there is sufficient interest. Great walks to be had on Arran this Easter! Nice easy
Arran coastal path? No problem! Fancy a mountain ridge or two, or three? Yup – you got it. A wander
up Goatfell can be yours with four routes of varying grades to be had. Is traversing your thing? Then a
nice valley from Sannox is the way ahead with fantastic views (or views that can be imagined if the
weather is dodgy) as you come over the bealach to Glen Rosa. A coast side wander to the King’s caves,
a wander up through the forest to the Giants’ graves and Glenashdale falls, a wander through the
gardens of Brodick Castle. This really is the destination for everyone, anyone, and whoever
really fancies it.
There are boats all day, the last at 6pm over from Ardrossan to Brodick. There is also a ferry from the
north from Claonaig (think down Mull of Kintyre) handy if coming from Oban and Fort William
direction. We have an interconnected transport system with the Glasgow train connecting with the
ferry, the bus meeting the boats on Arran and enough buses going around the island to make it
easy enough not to bring the car over and still make the walks. We have a co-op here for food, a few
hundred coffee shops if weather is total rubbish, and a large outdoor shop if you really did forget the
waterproof trousers. So wander across to this fabulous destination!!
9-11 August
NTS Kintail Outdoor Centre, Kintail
Grade Various
This area is bursting with mountains! The centre provides a fabulous setting for hillwalking and offers unparalleled scope for outdoor pursuits. A couple of Munros are located right behind the centre and a Corbet in front. The accommodation has bunk beds, with separate men and women rooms; bedding provided. There are three shower rooms, full kitchen, drying room, laundry facilities and Wi-Fi.
Cost for two nights £62.50 per person.
27–29 September
Blackrock Cottage, Glencoe
Grade Various
Blackrock Cottage, lies near the road, at the foot of Meall a’ Bhuiridh at the entrance to Glen Coe. It is
one of the most photographed locations in Scotland although few people have the opportunity to stay in it, but now is your chance. The Club have stayed in the hut on several occasions over the years, most
notably one winter weekend when everyone was freezing but do not let that put you off, as we are
returning in the autumn. The hut is very well located with Glencoe and Glen Etive within easy travelling distance and many more hills, slightly further afield, so there is plenty of scope during a weekend in the hills. The sleeping accommodation (beds) is in several rooms and although there are mattresses, sleeping bags will be required. There is a fully equipped, but basic, kitchen, a separate sitting / dining room and showers. The cost will be £30 per person for the weekend.
18-20 October
AGM weekend
Inverardran Hut, Crianlarich
Grade Various
We are returning to the Inverardran Cottage for this year’s AGM. It’s a well equipped and modernised
‘hut’, owned by the Ochils Club. There are numerous hills nearby for a variety of walk grades. Crianlarich is a relatively short travel distance from central Scotland, so we hope to fill all the places that we have booked! The accommodation cost will be in the region of £32.50 for the two nights.
