NOTES ABOUT BOOKING

Enquire about events as soon as possible - by the previous Friday for weekend events or the previous Monday for Saturday walks ideally.

Can't make the whole weekend? It's often possible to come for the Saturday or Sunday only - but you must contact the event leader.

It is critical that you speak to the Meet Leader prior to booking the accommodation.

10-12 October
Lagangarbh Hut (Glencoe) AGM
Grades 2, 3 & 4

This year the AGM will be held at the Lagangarbh Hut in Glencoe. We have booked all fourteen places in the hut at a cost of £17.50/head for the weekend. Based in Glencoe we will have no shortage of possibilities for both Munro and Corbett baggers alike. However, there is also the opportunity to stick to the Glens and enjoy the autumn colours. The AGM will take place after the evening meal on the Saturday evening. This will hopefully be a fairly short, non-contentious affair, which will not eat into the walking or social aspects of the weekend, but will give you the opportunity to make suggestions for the Club. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. To enquire send an email to schc.info@yahoo.co.uk

24-26 October
Cairngorm Lodge YH
Grades 3 & 4
Cairngorm Lodge YH, formerly known as Loch Morlich YH, is set at the foot of the Cairngorms, with plenty of walks of different lengths and different heights to choose from - from the heights of Ben Macdui and Cairngorm to the lesser heights of Meall a' Bhuachaille right behind the hostel. To enquire send an email to schc.info@yahoo.co.uk
8 November
Ben Ledi and Benvane
Grade 3
These two hills near Callendar are easy to reach from the Central Belt. Starting near Loch Lubnaig, we will climb Ben Ledi and if time allows head north to Benvane depending on conditions.
21-23 November
Weekend Without Boots
St Drostans Centre, Glen Esk
The Club has held a retreat about every couple of years or so since 1995 and this year we return to St Drostans in the Angus Glens. The speaker will be the Rev Jim Simpson who has many years experience in the ministry and is currently one of the Chaplains in the Aberdeen hospitals. He and his wife are keen hillwalkers. We can be assured of a spiritually refreshing weekend and in addition to the spiritual refreshment, we will have some physical refreshment by way of an afternoon walk between sessions. We have sole use of the Centre which sleeps 17 people in single and twin rooms. There is a common room and more relaxing sitting room together with a large kitchen. The cost of the weekend will be £40, which will include all accommodation and all food. Please book as early as possible. To enquire send an email to schc.info@yahoo.co.uk
4-6 December
Strawberry Cottage, Glen Affric
Grade 2

Strawberry Cottage sounds as if it should be situated in an English country garden rather than, as it is, an 8km walk or cycle from the car park at the road end in Glen Affric, some 60 km beyond Inverness. The Club has stayed here on several occasions but this is the first winter visit and simply getting to this well appointed mountain hut could be an adventure in itself. There is a wide range of otherwise remote hills, which can be climbed from the doorstep although our activities are likely to be strongly influenced by the weather. The meet will run from Thursday evening to Sunday (3 nights) to allow at least 2 full walking days. The weekend will cost £18 per head. To enquire send an email to schc.info@yahoo.co.uk

New Year
27 December 2007 - 3 January 2009
Lochcarron
Grade DIY

The Club has booked a cottage a few miles west of Lochcarron very near to the Applecross Hills for the New Year week. The Torridon and Achnashellach hills are within an easy drive. We hope for some cold, crisp weather with plenty of snow on the hills but will enjoy ourselves in Christian fellowship whatever the weather. The cost will be £15 per night and it may be possible to attend for part of the week. Please book early as this may be a popular week. To enquire send an email to schc.info@yahoo.co.uk

23-35 January
Raeburn Hut by Dalwhinnie
Grades 2 & 3
This meet didn't happen in 2008 due to snow; we will make it in 2009?? As the conditions may well be wintry, ice axe and crampons are highly recommended. The Raeburn Hut is on the road between Dalwhinnie and Laggan. There are a lot of hills in the area, including the Drumochter hills and the Monadhliaths, not forgetting the Sow of Atholl and the Boar of Badenoch. The hut has reasonable facilities, but you'll need a sleepping bag. The cost of the weekend is £17.50 per person. To enquire send an email to schc.info@yahoo.co.uk
